Did OZZFEST Concertgoers Witness UFO In 2004
Pollstar.com reports that The History Channel debuted an episode of "UFO Hunters" October 29 that featured one of the best-documented UFO "sightings" to date. It took place August 21, 2004, when fans were leaving an Ozzfest concert that took place First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre in in Tinley Park, Illinois.
As the fans were caught up in a traffic jam, three lights in a triangular pattern hovered above them for nearly 20 minutes. According to a Chicago UFO expert, it may be the most-seen incident recorded.
Much of the episode was filmed beneath the roof of the venue, where the show's hosts and guests reported their information. It is not known if any of the staff of the once-Tweeter Center saw the UFO in question.

ANTHRAX Begins Recording New Album
ANTHRAX has entered a Chicago studio to begin recording its new album, tentatively titled "Worship Music", for a May 2009 release via Nuclear Blast Records (in Europe). The band will record 13 new original songs and at least four covers, including "Brain Of J" (PEARL JAM), "Big Eyes" (CHEAP TRICK), "New Noise" (THE REFUSED), and "Running Down A Dream" (TOM PETTY). Drummer Charlie Benante wrote in a recent online posting, "The new tunes are very strong. We have some old-school thrash and some stuff that is like 'We've Come For You All' meets 'Sound Of White Noise'. This record is not forced — it is a very organic and honest representation of where we are as a band and as writers. I hear many things nowadays that sound forced, [and] I ain't digging that. There is a six-minute tune called 'Down Goes The Sun', I believe it is one of my favorite songs. The music itself is epic, it sends chills up my spine. 'Face with No Name', 'The Devil You Know', 'Earth On Hell' — all killer

DOWN Working On New Material
DOWN/ex-PANTERA bassist Rex Brown has told Billboard.com that there's "a lot of material left over" from last year's "Over the Under" album, which was recently released in a deluxe edition through Best Buy. The outtakes will be considered for the fourth DOWN album, but Brown adds that the quintet is also "writing constantly on the road. We still have all these ideas, and we play a lot of new stuff at sound check, just to feel it out. Hopefully we can get back in the studio in the fall and work on something." Also in the works is a documentary of DOWN's 2006 reunion after a nearly four-year hiatus, including both live and behind-the-scenes footage. "It's kind of about us learning how to walk together again," Brown said. "It just chronicles the life on the road of us starting to play again. We're right in the middle of it now."

AC/DC Defends Wal-Mart Deal
AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson recently spoke to Reuters about the band's decision to sell its newest album, "Black Ice", exclusively via Wal-Mart when it drops in record stores on Oct. 20.
"Maybe I'm just being old-fashioned, but this iTunes, God bless 'em, it's going to kill music if they're not careful," Johnson, 61, told Reuters. "It's a...monster, this thing," he said. "It just worries me. And I'm sure they're just doing it all in the interest of making as much...cash as possible. Let's put it this way, it's certainly not for the...love, let's get that out of the way, right away," he said.
Johnson also pointed out that Wal-Mart has been very loyal to AC/DC over the years, so the band had no problem giving the retailer an exclusive. "A lot of people were saying 'Ah man, you're going to the big Wal-Mart, you're selling out,'" Johnson said. "Wal-Mart were the only big store to stock all of our albums, every single one of them, and they've never deviated. And they sold AC/DC shirts and pajamas for kids, which we thought was really cool."

METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told The Pulse of Radio that he doesn't understand the controversy that has broken out in recent weeks over the audio quality of the band's new album, "Death Magnetic". Some fans and publications have accused the group and producer Rick Rubin of mixing the album at such a loud volume that the music is distorted and difficult to listen to. But Ulrich said that he's more than happy with the way it turned out. "I listen to this record, and I listen to it every couple of days," he said. "And when I hear it, it puts a smile on my face and it blows me away, and I don't understand what people are talking about. Somebody told me the other day that there were 12,000 people that had signed a petition to remix the record. We've sold two and a half million copies of 'Death Magnetic'. You do the math yourself."
"Death Magnetic" has sold more than a million copies in the U.S. alone since coming out on September 12.
A number of fans said online that they prefer the versions of the CD's tracks prepared for the Guitar Hero video game, which are mixed differently.

AMON AMARTH Frontman Comments On 'Thunder God' Billboard Chart Debut
Earlier in the month, AMON AMARTH's seventh full-length album, "Twilight of the Thunder God", sold more than 11,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 48 on The Billboard 200 chart.
"I think we were all actually kind of surprised we'd reached that high," frontman Johan Hegg told MTV News last week. "We're happy we did, and I think one of the key elements that contributed to [the high debut], obviously, is building a fanbase. That's what we've been doing all these years as we've steadily grown as a band. The fact that we've had a couple of successful tours in the U.S. has helped, and the fact that this record actually is really good didn't hurt."

CHIMAIRA: New Album Due In April
Ferret Music has reportedly set an April 28, 2009 North American release date for the new album from Cleveland, Ohio's CHIMAIRA. The follow-up to 2007's "Resurrection" will be recorded with producer Ben Schigel. CHIMAIRA is alsolooking for label to release the new album in territories outside North America (the band is no longer signed to Nuclear Blast, which released "Resurrection" in Europe).
CHRIST INVERSION, the project featuring Philip Anselmo (DOWN, PANTERA, SUPERJOINT RITUAL) on guitar/backing vocals, Wayne Fabra (GRAVEYARD RODEO, NECROPHAGIA) on vocals, Jay Gracianette (SINKHOLE) on bass, Ross Karpelman (DOWN, THE MYSTICK KREWE OF CLEARLIGHT, DRIP, SOUTHERN ISOLATION) on keyboards, and Gary Herbert (GRAVEYARD RODEO) on drums, will release its self-titled debut album on October 28 via Housecore Records. The band's second demo, 1995's "13th Century Luciferian Rites", will also be made available at some point in the not-too-distant future.
Formed in 1994, CHRIST INVERSION was a short lived black/death metal project formed by Anton Crowley (a.k.a. Philip Anselmo). Most of their lyrics were based on horror films and Satanism. The band recorded two demos and then disbanded without ever recording a full-length album. The first demo, "Obey The Will Of Hell", was re-released in 2004 by Funeral in Hell Records. On MySpace the band describes its sound as "the venomous vomit of Satan!" and cites its influences as VENOM, CELTIC FROST and Satan.
AC/DC Guitarist Slams Apple's iTunes: 'We Don't Make Singles, We Make Albums'
AC/DC refuse to allow their work to be sold on iTunes because they argue that their albums are complete pieces of work that represent them at a certain time and place in their musical career and are not just a bunch of individual downloads to be cherry-picked by fans.
Because iTunes steadfastly refuses to "lock" any album (the vast majority of songs on the site can be downloaded as individual tracks), AC/DC don't just boycott the online store, but are now active anti-iTunes evangelists.

I am still fairly new to these guys. They really sold me on there 2006 album With Oden On My Side. I consider it one of the best metal albums of '06. With this album they keep to there roots and do what they do best and that is Hardcore Viking Metal. To me personally I don't think it is as good as there last one but it is still definitely a very good and very solid album. With them touring with slayer and Mastadon things are looking very good for them.

2. Vermilion, Pt. 2 (Bloodstone mix) – 3:39
3. 'Til We Die – 5:46
First off I am going to say that I have not been a huge fan of these guys since there first self titled album. I was 14 and didn't have much of a broad reach of music back in '99. That being said if your a fan of these guys you probably will like this then. It has there signature sound but not with the anger that the first album had. I can't blame them. Slayer has been doing for years and they are one of the most successful metal band of all time. This isn't as light as “Vol.3” but it does have its slow songs. The song “psychosocial.” I think is in the wrong place. After 3 good songs it completely slows down the pace. It never really recovers until “Vendetta,”but then “Butcher's Hook” really lost me. It feels misplaced and probably should not have been on here. “Snuff” is one of there softest songs they have ever done to date, yet its probably musically and lyrically one of there best songs. Its a pretty solid album. The bonus tracks seem like they did not belong at all, like the record company felt like they needed to add something more but it add nothing to it at all. If anything the 3 bonus tracks lower the quality of the album. If your a huge fan you will probably pick up the special edition just to hear the new songs but I would recommend staying away from it.

- Believe in Nothing (Nevermore cover) - 4:23
There isn't a whole lot to this album. Its simple and its short ending at only 38min. This is your typical new type metal album. Its the same sound we have been hearing for years now and it sells well but this album does nothing new. Its not awful but its not all that great. Most of the tracks are average at best and that's just about what it is. It's an average album. I was really looking forward the nevermore cover of “Believe in Nothing.” This is probably the worst song on the whole album. These guys just don't have the talent near what Nevermore has vocally or musically. This was a bit of a disapointment since there last album was so much better.
